They are responsible for diverting 75% to 85% of EarthFair waste from the landfill, to recycling and composting programs.
EarthFair Volunteer Awards
San Diego EarthWorks’ annual EarthFair in Balboa Park is the largest free environmental fair and Earth Day celebration in the world. Significantly, the event is produced by around 400 volunteers.
This large group of volunteers, many of whom are volunteering for the first time, is managed by a cadre of about 30 team leaders. Many of these team leaders come back year after year to produce this landmark event.
We take this opportunity to honor the team leaders who have volunteered for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years.
5-Year Service Awards

- Shirlene Barnes
- Jessica Brew
- Arlene Campos

EarthFair Innovation Awards
From time to time, an EarthFair volunteer innovates in a way that goes far beyond what is generally expected of a volunteer, and transforms the entire event. We recognize such extraordinary accomplishments with our EarthFair Innovation Award.
This year, we present our EarthFair Innovation Award to Tracy Ebba, for the realization of the Family Values Team that significantly minimized the disruption caused by protesters at EarthFair carrying photos designed to upset children.
